Pregnancy Lower Body Exercises

Your lower body will be doing extra duty as your baby grows. Strong muscles will help you carry the extra weight comfortably, avoid muscle aches and improve your endurance. Strong muscles will also provide a good anchor for the necessary increase in fat so your fat deposits are beautifully rounded instead of dimply.

As your pregnancy progresses, your joints will become looser. Leg exercises that add extra weight can increase the risk of joint injury. Additionally, as your center of balance changes it can become more difficult to perform upright exercises like lunges and squats. Adjust your lower body exercises as necessary to fit your bodies current needs. Exercises can be done standing with support, kneeling on all fours or while reclining on your side.
