Childbirth Meditation: Trust

What you trust, and what you don't trust, define how you will live your life and how you will give birth.

In childbirth, it is our trust in those around us that gives us the confidence in their recommendations.

Don't confuse trust with faith. Faith is a belief in something you have not yet seen or received. When you trust the process of childbirth, it is because you have seen it and you know it is true.

Don't settle for having faith in yourself and those around you. Look at the evidence (character and behavior). Is there a reason to trust what is said? Is there reason to believe you can achieve a natural childbirth?

Why do you trust that your body is capable of natural childbirth? If you are basing it on hopes and desires you have missed a major strength you can take into labor. If you spend some quiet time in reflection, you will find many pieces of evidence that convince you your body is trustworthy.

Even when you have no idea what to expect, there are some things you can always count on. Those are the things we trust.

Encouraging words for you

"Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do. " -Benjamin Spock
