How Can My Site Become a Key Site?
While using the Natural Childbirth Directory, you may notice websites that are listed with an image of a key next to them. These sites are being highlighted for their high quality. The Key Site Award is presented to sites that, in the opinion of Birthing Naturally, are key sources of information for expectant parents.
Although all the sites listed in the Natural Childbirth Directory offer the reader accurate and useful information or services for childbirth and parenting, some sites stand out as providers of Key Information. These sites have gone above and beyond the generally offered information in at least two of the following ways:
- Covered a topic with extensive depth and detail;
- Provide information with relevant research and literature citations included;
- Offer various sources of additional information for the reader to continue studying the topic in addition to their content. (key sites are not simply lists of other sites)
Key Sites have also been designed with the reader in mind by maintaining the following high quality standards on their web page:
- Easy to read text;
- Text has been checked for correct spelling;
- Backgrounds that promote easy reading;
- Images that enhance the experience rather than distract the reader;
- Easy and well laid out navigation when necessary;
- High quality, unbroken links;
- Key Sites do not plagiarize the work of other individuals. This includes both text and images. Proper permission and credits are always given when the work does not belong to the website.
It is the hope of Birthing Naturally that the Key Sites Award will:
- Make it easier for families to find the information they need;
- Recognize webmasters who have taken the time to develop a great site;
- Encourage high quality websites on the topics of childbirth and parenting.
Please note: The directory is provided in an attempt to help you locate childbirth professionals who are trained to assist you in planning for a natural birth. Listing in the Natural Childbirth Directory does not indicate that professionals and sites only offer natural childbirth services.
